Birding Gems!

Join us as we explore the birding gems of Rhode Island and beyond. As the coordinator of the state bird atlas, I have visited every corner of the Ocean State and have discovered multiple prime birding spots - where healthy habitats provide for the needs of many breeding and migrating species. Each of these walks will explore a hidden “gem” of our small state.

During each walk, we will look for breeding bird activity, recent fledglings, and early migrants - and we will discuss the natural history and conservation needs of the birds and their habitats. These educational walks will provide an opportunity to learn a great deal more about the birds that utilize Rhode Island during their annual cycle and what you can do to help conserve them.

Bird walks will begin at 8am and end by 1pm

Birding Gem Bird Walk Costs: $135 per person

Group Size: Minimum = 4; Maximum = 6

About Me

Connect with Birds. Connect with the World.

Connection is the foundation of everything I care about. To truly understand something—and to want to protect it—you have to feel connected to it.

During my time as Director of Avian Research for the Audubon Society of Rhode Island and as Coordinator of the second Rhode Island Bird Atlas, I had the privilege of working with hundreds of dedicated, compassionate volunteers. What united them all was a shared desire: to feel more connected to the natural world.

When you look at a bird, you’re seeing far more than feathers and flight. You’re witnessing evolution in action—remarkable physiological and anatomical adaptations, complex behavior, and even the laws of physics at work. And just as birds are deeply connected to their environments, we are connected to them too.

Let’s Get Outside

Whatever I can do to help you build a stronger connection to birds, I will.

Because every moment spent appreciating birds is also a step toward protecting them.

Bringing That Connection to You

Through my ecotour company, Antbird Tours, I guide people through the extraordinary biodiversity of the Neotropics and the conservation challenges those ecosystems face.

But you don’t have to travel far to experience that same sense of wonder and connection. I’m committed to helping people discover it right here in Rhode Island.
